What Five Lines is
A course: every concept explained in five lines, with a longer page behind each one and graded tests to check what stuck. It is a study aid written by a person, not a qualification, not certified by any body, and not a substitute for formal education or professional advice. We try hard to be accurate and we will not always succeed.
Accounts
- An account is optional. The whole course works without one.
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 treats everyone under 18 as a child and requires verifiable parental consent before their data may be processed; we do not collect that, so we do not create accounts for under-18 readers. Read the course instead: all of it is free and none of it needs signing in.
- Give a real email address. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password to yourself.
- One person per account. Do not share credentials.
- You may close your account at any time. See Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close an account that is being used to attack the site, to scrape it wholesale, to break the law, or to harm other people. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why first.
What you may do with the content
The words, cards, questions and pages on Five Lines belong to In Five Lines, except where another source is named and linked.
You may, freely and without asking:
- read, study and quote from it
- link to any page
- use it to teach, and point students at it
You may not:
- republish substantial parts of it as your own, on a website, in an app, in a book or in a course
- scrape the site systematically, or use it to train a model for redistribution as a competing product
- remove attribution, or present the material as if it were yours
If you want to do something this does not obviously allow, ask: rohan@infivelines.com. The answer is usually yes.
Your progress
Your reading progress is stored in your own browser and never sent to us. That means we cannot back it up, restore it, or move it to another device, and clearing your browser data will delete it. This is a deliberate design choice and it is stated here so it is not a surprise later.
Availability
The site is provided as it is, with no promise that it will be available, complete, accurate or free of error. We may change, move or withdraw any part of it. We do not guarantee uptime and we do not offer support beyond the contact routes at Contact and Grievance Redressal.
Cost
Five Lines is free. There is nothing to buy: every card, its in-depth page, its deep dive where it has one, its reference link and every test are available without payment.
Third-party links
Concept pages link to Wikipedia and to other external sources. Those sites are not ours and we are not responsible for what they say or do.
Liability
To the fullest extent the law permits, In Five Lines is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Five Lines, including any decision you make (academic, professional or financial) on the strength of something you read here. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and material changes are announced on the site. Continuing to use Five Lines after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India.
